Wellbeing First for Healthcare

Harnessing Our Collective Strength

To protect the people who dedicate their lives to healing others, we must unite across every profession, discipline, and sector in healthcare.

The ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Healthcare coalition brings together interprofessional, cross-sector national organizations to make a lasting impact for the more than six million health workers we represent and the millions more we reach. Together, we are changing the systems and culture of healthcare so that every person in our healthcare workforce feels safe, valued, and deeply supported.

Wellbeing First for Healthcare

Championing Confidential Access to Mental Health Care for Every Health Worker

We share a collective responsibility to ensure health workers can access mental health care without fear of professional repercussions. Together, we are ALL IN for Health Workers’ Mental Health—working to build a system that prioritizes mental health for those who care for us.

For example, through our Wellbeing First Champion Challenge program, we have made it safer for more than 3.35 million health workers to access mental health care by removing invasive, stigmatizing mental health and substance use disorder questions in licensing and credentialing applications.

Guiding Workplaces to Protect and Support Health Worker Wellbeing

Guiding Workplaces to Protect and Support Health Worker Wellbeing

We are working together to accelerate wellbeing solutions that improve workplace environments and structural support into everyday practice for health workers.

From working with the National Academy of Medicine on the Healthcare Workforce Rescue Package to the CDC NIOSH for the Impact WellbeingTM Guide, we are helping leaders make powerful workplace improvements, while taking into account the realities many health systems face when it comes to finding additional time, cost, and staff to implement wellbeing work.

Advancing Policies to Sustain Our Healthcare Workforce

Advancing Policies to Sustain Our Healthcare Workforce

We unite our collective voices and advocate for public policies to improve confidential access to mental health care and build sustainable workplace environments for health workers across the county.

For example, we secured the passage and reauthorization of the first-of-its-kind law for health workers’ mental health and wellbeing—the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act. We are now collaborating with Congress to secure the funding needed to sustain and scale these life-saving programs.

Turning Shared Compassion into a Movement

Turning Shared Compassion into a Movement

The story of the ALL IN coalition began in 2021, born out of a shared determination to transform healthcare through collaboration and action so that those who care for us are fully supported. Alongside visionary public health, media, and advocacy pioneers – Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Thrive Global, and the CAA Foundation – the Dr. Lorna Breen Foundation co-founded the ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Healthcare coalition to do just this.

What started as an immediate response to validate health workers and let them know they were not alone has grown into a lasting movement. By connecting national organizations, the ALL IN coalition has become an enduring community dedicated to changing the systems that support our healthcare workforce, keeping the wellbeing and mental health of our health workers at the forefront of everything we do.

We offer our sincere gratitude to Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Thrive Global, and CAA Foundation, who continue to serve in an advisory role for the coalition.
