Driving Action through
National Milestones
Together, we are shifting the culture from awareness to systems change.
National recognition milestones are far more than dates on a calendar—they are shared spaces for us to listen, connect, and foster open, supportive conversations about health workers’ mental health and wellbeing. By bringing our community together during these key moments, we drive action e for permanent systems change.
Healthcare Workforce Wellbeing Day
Every year on March 18, we celebrate Healthcare Workforce Wellbeing Day. We established this national milestone hand-in-hand with Congress, the National Academy of Medicine, and the Office of the Surgeon General to center the country’s attention on the wellbeing and mental health of our healthcare workforce.
This date marks the anniversary of the passage of the landmark Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act. Together on this day, we share evidence-informed best practices, bring attention and understanding to the daily experiences of health workers, and turn our shared momentum into lasting change that protects and supports our healthcare workforce’s wellbeing and mental health.

Our Collective Strength in Action:
Every year, in recognition of Healthcare Workforce Wellbeing Day, we proudly convene members of our community from across the country at our Healthcare Leadership Collaborative in Washington D.C. Together, we learn from one another, share best practices, and build workplace cultures where health workers can truly thrive. What first blossomed as an intimate gathering of our co-founders and ALL IN coalition members has since grown into a powerful national convening where everyone is welcome to join the movement.

May: Mental Health Awareness Month
Throughout May, we focus on deepening resource access and bringing visibility to the mental health and wellbeing of the healthcare workforce:
We look to May to equip our healthcare workforce with the insights and resources needed to locate and access confidential mental health care through our ALL IN for Mental Health initiative.
Observed by advocates and nursing organizations across the country to bring visibility to the compounding clinical workloads and mental health conditions impacting the nursing workforce, while encouraging pathways to confidential support.
September: Suicide Prevention Month
September centers our collective attention on honoring the legacies of health workers who have died by suicide. We drive ongoing progress across the country by scaling our Wellbeing First Champion Challenge, guiding licensing boards and health systems to remove the invasive, intrusive questions from licensing and credentialing applications that act as primary barriers to help-seeking.
Throughout the month, there are milestones dedicated to deepening support for different fields across healthcare:
