Welcome to The Breen Scale™
As healthcare leaders, we share a deep commitment to supporting our workforce. Yet, the challenge we hear most often is navigating implementation—figuring out exactly how to translate our best intentions into daily operational reality.
The Breen Scale™ is an evidence-informed assessment designed to help your organization benchmark your current workforce wellbeing infrastructure. It provides clear insights into your workplace today and offers actionable guidance on next steps to support your healthcare workforce’s wellbeing and mental health.
How It Works
The Breen Scale™ guides you through three key domains:
Based on your organization’s responses, the assessment will help determine if your organization is currently in the Early, Emerging, Accelerating, or Maturing stage for specific topics within the three key domains and recommend approaches to mature in your workforce wellbeing journey.
Let’s Get Started!
Are you ready to take the first step in understanding your organization’s current landscape and mapping your journey forward?
How to Prepare
The Breen Scale™ contains thoughtful questions across our three core domains. We estimate it will take your team approximately 2 hours to complete the assessment.
Because this assessment touches on everything from overarching strategy and governance to daily workflows and mental health benefits, we highly recommend completing this collaboratively.
To ensure a smooth process, we recommend a point person or team lead look over the assessment first to understand the breadth of the questions. This will allow them to collect the right people and information from the organization before sitting down to complete it together. We also recommend you keep our glossary of definitions nearby for reference.
Who Should Be Involved?
To ensure the most accurate reflection of your organization, consider gathering a small core group of leaders with expertise in the following areas:
- Professional Wellbeing & Executive Leadership: Representatives who oversee organizational strategy, such as a Chief Wellbeing Officer or members of the C-Suite leadership team.
- Human Resources & Benefits: Representatives from the HR leadership team who can speak to individual systems support, including insurance coverage and leave policies.
- Operations & Quality Improvement: Leaders familiar with operational systems support, including workforce planning, quality and safety initiatives, credentialing, and information technology.
